Stratford

Stratford is a small city, situated along the Avon River in Southwestern Ontario.

Transportation Plan | 2010

Stratford, Ontario adopted a Complete Streets approach in its 2010 Transportation Master Plan (TMP). Stratford’s TMP describes a Complete Street as “one which takes into account each mode of transport, producing a street that all users can safety move along and across” (p. 71). The TMP explains that “considering streets holistically enables communities to reduce infrastructure costs by designing a transportation network that meets the needs of all users at the outset, thereby avoiding costly retrofits” (p. 71). The TMP states that Stratford “will incorporate the principle of Complete Streets into all transportation projects, except where it can be demonstrated to the satisfaction of Council that there is a lack of need” (p. 74).
