Canmore

Canmore is a small town in Alberta, located near Banff National Park.

Land Use Plan | 2016

The Town of Canmore includes a Complete Streets policy in its 2016 Municipal Development Plan. Implementing a Complete Streets approach in Canmore is one of the five goals of the Development Plan; the plan commits Canmore to building “Complete Streets and a trail network that prioritizes and encourages walking, cycling, and transit while accommodating the private automobile within a reasonable capacity” (p. 63). It aims to build a network of Complete Streets that accommodates all ages and abilities in a four-season environment.

Transportation Plan | 2018

Canmore’s Integrated Transportation Plan (ITP), updated in 2018, contains a dedicated section to its Complete Streets Approach, including design guidances. A Complete Streets policy was first introduced in Canmore’s 2014 ITP. This policy went on to inform a number of projects, including Canmore’s first Complete Streets rehabilitation on Spring Creek Drive.
